Once an image has been produced, it may be necessary to make a copy for comparison purposes or for future reference. Digital techniques, while offering the best in image quality, must use still images and so consume large amounts of memory. VCR tapes can record movement, but quality is diminished. Here, as with other aspects of RTR, compromise is necessary. Optical discs have high-capacity storage capabilities.
