Standard Depth of Penetration Versus Frequency Chart

The standard depth of penetration (d) of an alternating current at different frequencies (in kHz) is shown where d corresponds to the depth at which the current density decreases by 1/e (37%) relative to the surface density. In this applet, a material may be selected or a conductivity value entered to produce a line on the depth of penetration versus test frequency chart. When the mouse arrow is clicked on the chart, the values for one standard depth of penetration in inches and millimeters is shown.
